    School Cafeterias Go Computerized

    Brunswick school cafeterias will be utilizing a new Point of Sale payment system for all school meals. The first day of service for the new system is Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Click here for the Parent Information letter that was sent home with your student and for additional information.
     
    We are sorry for any misunderstanding with regards to setting up the “free account” and the transaction fee associated with mySchoolBucks.  The company charges a $1.95 convenience fee for adding money to the account electronically.  Please note this is not necessary nor does the school district benefit from these transactions. The free account is necessary for you to monitor and review purchases made by your child(ren). Payments (check or cash) can still be brought to school and be applied to the account without a fee.

    Huntington at Mohican Outdoor School

     A few reminders, for Tuesday, each student must have a paper bag lunch, students must wear their boots to school, label all bags with your name, students should be brought to school around 9:15 or parents can drop off luggage in the back of the building after 7:30 a.m., please medication in its original container, labeled with name, and appropriate forms signed by the doctor.

    1st Gradefield trip to the Zoo has been rescheduled for Tuesday 5/28/13.  Students must have a brown bagged lunch,unless you preordered from the cafeteria. Please watch the weather on Monday and have your child dress appropriately.

    5th GradeRockets- we will be launching rockets at Mohican.  For those students that are not attendingMohican, we will do our best and try to launch the rockets before the end ofthe school year.

     

    5th GradePanoramic Picture- we will attempt to reschedule with the picturecompany.  If we are unable to reschedule,all orders will be sent home with your child.

     

    Please remember if your child is ill, no student from your family mayattend school until three days after the last symptom has occurred.

  • Homework

    Homework is an essential part of learning and needs to be completed daily.  It helps students practice the concepts and skills that are being taught.  Homework is an assessment tool to check for understanding and to determine what intervention is needed.  Students who do not complete assignments are going to fall behind and not learn how to be independent learners.  I am asking that you check your child's homework every night in all subjects.  Please check for accuracy, details, and completeness.  This would include showing work in math and neatness on all written assignments.  I have seen an increase in red folders or notes about missing homework.  Not completing assignments impacts the Summative and Formative Assessment Cycle that helps us plan for instruction.

  • Attendance Reporting Guidelines

    Please make a note of the following district attendance guidelines for students if your child will be coming to school late or is being picked up early:
     
    If your child is arriving to school after 9:15 a.m. but before 10:45 a.m., your child will be marked "Tardy".  After 10:45 a.m. all students entering the building will be marked "One-Half Day Absent".
     
    If your child is being picked up after 2:00 p.m., your child will be marked as a "Sign Out".  If your child leaves school before 2:00 p.m., he/she will be marked "One-Half Day Absent".
     
    Any student who is in school for a total of less than 3-1/4 hours will be marked as "Absent" for the full day.  If your child misses any time from school due to a doctor or dentist appointment, please remember to bring in an excuse from the doctor's office so your child's attendance can be marked as "Medical Excuse".

  • Outdoor Recess

    I would like to remind parents to send students to school with appropriate attire for outdoor recess. We do try to get the students outside during their recess time as often as possible so please make sure they have their boots, hats and gloves to stay warm as the weather changes. Students will go out for recess when the temperature and wind chill is 20 degrees or higher.

     

    Car Riders

    If you are driving to school, please follow the directions of the staff.  We want everyone to be safe and I need all parents to be patient, pull all the way down the sidewalk, and have all children enter their car on the passenger side.  If you feel it is necessary to get out of your car, please park in the side lot and meet your child when they exit the building.
