    Norovirus Update and Prevention

If your child shows any sign of symptoms, please keep your child home for 3 days AFTER symptoms are gone even if they say that they are feeling better.

Symptoms include warning signs (any sign of paleness, weepy eyes, or feeling/acting sluggish) and vomiting (very severe). If your child shows ANY of these signs, keep your child at home.

If your child is coming to school, you must make arrangements for a quick pick up in case your child gets sick at school.

As of now all 5th grade students and siblings of 5th graders are out on Monday.   This is where we know there is a high number of sick and children who were exposed to the virus.  You must call off any students who are sick and who are siblings of fifth graders.  Fifth graders do not need call off. Rest assured that Mr. Mayell, other district administrators, our nurse, Lisa Werner, and the health department are working closely together to determine the next move!

Please keep your family home and avoid buffets.  Wash hands constantly and use bleach to clean and disinfect! Please follow these directives - we must work together to end this in our school and community!

    Thank you for your cooperation!

To the Parents of Towslee Students,

The Brunswick City School District is committed to proving all children with teachers who are well-trained and certified for the areas that they teach.  High quality professional development is made available for all teachers to keep up to date and increase their professional knowledge.

Towslee Elementary School is pleased to inform you that all of the classroom teachers assigned to teach your child meet or exceed the qualifications needed to be rated as Highly Qualified Teachers. Our teachersare all fully certified to teach in the areas they have been assigned and are eligible for the Highly Qualified designation due to having taken and passed required licensure exams and/or having taken advanced coursework or earned advanced degrees.

Specific additional information regarding the qualifications of your child’s teacher can be obtained by contacting your building principal or the Assistant Superintendent, Joelle Magyar.

    School Cafeterias Go Computerized

Brunswick school cafeterias will be utilizing a new Point of Sale payment system for all school meals. The first day of service for the new system is Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Click here for the Parent Information letter that was sent home with your student and for additional information.

We are sorry for any misunderstanding with regards to setting up the “free account” and the transaction fee associated with mySchoolBucks.  The company charges a $1.95 convenience fee for adding money to the account electronically.  Please note this is not necessary nor does the school district benefit from these transactions. The free account is necessary for you to monitor and review purchases made by your child(ren). Payments (check or cash) can still be brought to school and be applied to the account without a fee.
