All students in grade 1-5 receive a student planner for their homework assignments.  This planner informs you and your child of the Brunswick City Schools' Student Conduct code and the Applewood Pupil and Parent Handbook withint the Student Handbook portion located at the beginning of the student planner.  Please take time to review and discuss the handbook section with your child.

All students also receive the Applewood Pupil and Parent Handbook to bring home.  This handbook supplies you with information and procedures specific to Applewood School.  Since Kindergarten does not receive the Student Planner, the Handbook portion has been added to their packet and includes the Brunswick City Schools' Conduct Code.

We believe:

  • The community can only exist and progress when its families, individuals, and organizations work together.
  • It is a tradegy when a community fails to realize the potential of its individual members.
  • Individuals are responsible and accountable for their actions.
  • Lifelong learning is crucial to continuous growth of the individual.
  • The control and quality of the educational system is the responsibility of the local community.
  • Each child can learn and develop into responsible and productive members of society.
  • Each child is a unique individual with varying abilities and learning styles.  Therefore, we believe that our primary responsibility is to design and implement challenging educational programs.
  • The knowledge, skills, and attitudes which children acquire and develop in school will help lead to their personal fulfillment.  This will asssist them in becoming responsible and productive members of society who are wise consumers and demonstrate an appreciation and caring of the earth's resources.
  • The educational process is a shared responsibility of teachers, students, parents and community.
