BAND PARENTS and FRIENDS!
Updated on April 27, 2008
Please remember to visit the Brunswick High School Bands News & Information to stay informed of current events!
Welcome to all parents and friends of the award-winning Brunswick High School Band Program! No successful program
can exist without the enthusiastic support of a large group of parents and friends working behind the scenes to advocate
for the program, support the students through attendance at all concerts and competition and raise funds to support their
many endeavors. It is our hope that this new section of the band web site will improve communication with parents,
generate more excitement about what our program has to offer, and provide parents with additional resources and
information about the importance of an enthusiastic and healthy support organization for our students!

BAND PARENTS ORGANIZATION ADOPTS NEW BY-LAWS!
In an effort to increase efficiency and involvement of parents in the band program, the BBPO formed a strategic
planning committee in the spring of 2007 to review and revise the current by-laws and operating procedures of the
Brunswick Band Parent Organization. The committee consisted of approximately 40 parents, Mr. Wardeska, Ms. Neubauer,
Mrs. Wardeska and Brunswick High School Principal, Michael Mayell. The resulting document provides a clearly laid out
leadership structure and "chain of command" to help give a clear definition to volunteers of what type of work needs to be
done. The new document was ratified at the December meeting of the Brunswick Band Parents Organization. Plans are
now underway to install the first nominating committee under the new constitution and begin the search for our new
slate of officers who will begin their terms in May, 2008. To download a copy of the new by-laws, please click the link
which follows this article.
Mr. Wardeska is very excited about this organizational step and hopes it leads to a new, invigorated parent organization
that will join the band in moving forward toward our continuing goal of excellence.

BAND PARENTS ORGANIZATION ADOPTS MISSION STATEMENT!
As part of the strategic planning process, the Brunswick Band Parent Organization in conjunction with the Band
Department adopted a powerful new mission statement. The statement reads:
"The Brunswick Band Parents Organization believes that music education is a fundamental piece of the human experience
in the education of the whole child. Music education offers unique learning opportunities that develop life skills, explore
and enhance individual creativity and self-expression, and foster an understanding of past and present cultures in a
diverse world community which culminates in a life-long appreciation and enjoyment of music."
