Hello and welcome to the Brunswick Choral Department Home Page.  Here you will be able to get additional information about choir that is specific to the high school.  There will be pictures, instructions, ideas, and words from fellow students.  If there is anything you would like to see on this page let us know.  We want these pages to be informative as possible.

Notes of Interest

We had a very successful Young Folk audition before the end of school last year and the group has had several good rehearsals during the summer.  Looking forward to a great year.

bullet

Handbook has been redone to comply with District requirements.

Another big change will be the way money is collected for fund raisers, concert attire, etc.  Money will now be sent to a PO Box for processing.  That should minimize any payment problems and leave class time for teaching and not playing banker.

The choir room was cleaned over the summer, please make sure it stays that way.  THERE WILL BE NO FOOD ALLOWED IN THE CHOIR ROOM.

All fees needed to be paid by September 14th. This included any shoe money, school fees, rental fees, and pay to participate fees.  There are still some students with outstanding balances.  Please get your fees and any concert attire money paid by 10/8 to ensure your participation in the Fall Concert.

School fees and pay to participate fees need to be paid at the athletic office during school hours.

Concert Dress and Tux Fittings Now Completed

Dresses and tux jackets have been cleaned and pressed so please handle carefully at concerts.

Remember that dresses are not form fitting and will have some give to them.  We need to adjust for possible increases or decreases to your size during the year. Dresses cannot be exchanged for different sizes during the year due to limited number of dresses on hand.

Also, sizes listed on the dresses are dressmaker pattern sizes and are not related to ready to wear clothes you get off the rack at stores.  So please do not be alarmed if you are fitted into a dress size larger than you would normally wear.

Everyone is now fitted into a dress and a tux jacket.  If you notice any changes with size during the year please let Mrs. Piper know as soon as possible, if there is another dress that is available you might be able to be resized.  Remember you are responsible for your concert attire and will have to pay for any clothing that is damaged that includes split seams or torn hems.

CONCERT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ

Students need to arrive at 5:45pm in order to change and be in the PAC for warm ups at 6:15.  Please be prompt to eliminate as much confusion as possible.  Ladies after the concert you must allow time to hang your dresses back up in the  garments bags and in alphabetical order.  Mixed Symphonic ladies and men from all choirs will be changing in the PAC.  Concert and Treble choir ladies will be changing in the choir room.  You must return to those respective areas after the concert to change. Choir officers and parent volunteers will be assisting with this effort.

We would like to have some extra parent volunteers for all concerts.  Besides our normal concert activities, we need to have supervisors in the changing areas and to help supervise students during the concert.  Thank you to the choir officers who have also said they would help with this process.

Please note that we are looking for parents who will be concert coordinators to help coordinate volunteers the night of the concert.

Time frames for volunteers:

bullet

Need at least 4 parents to help supervise dressing rooms.  Volunteers need to be in choir room or PAC by 5:45 when students arrive for changing.

bullet

Need 1 or 2 people to handle the 50/50 drawing.  Need to be at the PAC no later than 6:30.

bullet

Need at least two people to handle the entrance doors.  Should be at PAC by 6:30. Although doors do not open until 7pm many people like to throw in their contributions and get a program ahead of time.  Volunteers manning the doors need to stay at the doors until concert time.

Please make note of the concert dates so you can plan your schedule accordingly.

Part of the choir apparel for both ladies and men are specific shoes that must be purchased.  Mrs. Piper will be handing out order forms.  This is especially important to incoming freshmen.  If you were a member of choir last year and have shoes in good condition then you will not need to order another pair. Mrs. Piper will need to inspect your shoes.

Prices are $30 for women's shoes and $20 for men's shoes.
