In School Choirs
Treble Choir:
This group is exclusive to female voice.
The purpose of the ensemble is to explore the developing voices of this age
level and also to begin to understand the skills necessary for proper vocal
technique. Literature will include a variety of styles and types of music.
All choir performances are considered part of the course requirement.
Mixed Symphonic Choir:
The choir is the top performing vocal ensemble at Brunswick High School, and
thus requires either a private audition or recommendation of the choral
director. Auditions are held at the end of the school year. Mixed
symphonic choir performs literature from all genres and time periods of music.
The repertoire can be accompanied or a cappella and requires a developed inner
ear and expanded sensitivity to musicality. All choir performances are
considered part of the course requirement.
Concert Choir:
This group is open to both male and female
voices. The choir is recommended for those students who enjoy singing, yet
are not ready to perform in an auditioned choir. The students will be
taught the skills of sight-reading, choral musicianship, and vocal technique.
Literature will include a variety of styles and types of music. All choir
performances are considered part of the course requirement.
Extra Curricular Choirs
In addition to requiring time outside of school, each extra
curricular choir has a pay-to-participate fee, which can be found after the name
of the choir.
Young Folk ($50.00):
Young Folk is a show choir.
Membership in this ensemble is based on an audition. Auditions are held at
the end of the school year and are based on dance and vocal abilities. They meet
on Mondays and Thursdays.
Men's Choir ($35.00):
Men’s Choir is open to any male student
who is enrolled in either Brunswick High School or the Career Center. They
meet Wednesdays after school. A more serious subgroup of Men's Choir, The
Bachelors, will be chosen after the school year starts.
Vive La Musica ($35.00):
Viva La Musica is a ladies ensemble.
Membership in this ensemble is based on an audition. Auditions are held at the
end of the school year and are based on sight reading abilities. They meet
Tuesdays after school.
