BCMB HOME

It is my firm belief that an Outstanding Choral Program can only be created through open lines of communication.  Teacher, Students and Parents must be able to have open, honest communication; or else problems start to arise.  If you ever have a question, idea or other comment concerning ANY aspect of Choir, feel free to approach me on the subject.  I can be reached by phone, email, note or meeting (see p.1 banner).  Direct communication helps to eliminate painful misunderstandings.  So don’t be shy, speak up!

A large section of the Return pages of this newsletter is dedicated to providing me with ways to contact you.  It is important to keep both sides of the channels of communication open.  If a problem does arise, the sooner we communicate, the easier the solution.

As the year progresses, I’m sure questions will arise.  Keep in mind that I have 300+ students and their parents to which I must respond.  If at all possible, please communicate in writing via note or email.  This gives me something to reference when responding to you.  Your comments and questions are important to me (both parent and student)!

One important link in our chain of communication is this newsletter and the issues to follow.  I know you’re busy so I’ll try to give you the information you need in a easy-reference format.  Keep these newsletters handy as a source of  answers to the most frequently asked questions.

As long as we can have open communication, I’m sure that we can overcome ANY obstacles that come our way!

Concert Attire

Each student is required to wear specific clothing for our concerts as follows:

·          Choir T-Shirt (See below)

·          Black Dress Pants

·          Dark Socks (or nylons at girl’s option)

·          Black Shoes (Dress Shoes preferred)

The goal of concert attire is to play down individuality.  Therefore certain restrictions have been imposed on accessories.  Jewelry is limited to a watch.  Earrings are limited to “stud” type (for safety).  Makeup should be applied so as to enhance “natural” beauty, not drastically change appearance.  T-Shirts will be worn tucked in so that the waistband of the pants is clearly visible ALL THE WAY AROUND.  Shoes should have little or no heel and be comfortable as we sometimes dance when we sing.  If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask WELL in advance of the concert dates.  I STRONGLY suggest shopping early to avoid the holiday rush!

Choir T-Shirts:

All choir students need a specially designed choir T-shirt.  The cost per shirt is $15.00.  White shirts will be ordered for most students and black shirts will be ordered for members of Jazz Choir (that’s one shirt per student, either white or black).  The order form was in the newsletter but click the link below if you need another copy.  Checks should be made out to Brunswick Choral Music Boosters or BCMB.

NOTE:  Returning students may wear last year’s shirt if it is still in good condition and still fits.

BrunswickChoral MusicBoosters:

BCMB is an organization dedicated to helping our choirs by doing behind-the-scenes work.  They are involved in Fund-Raising, costumes, ushering, chaperoning and all sorts of stuff we can’t live without!  Who are these incredible people?  Why, they are caring parents JUST LIKE YOU!  In fact, you are automatically a member just by having a child in choir.

This year many of our more experienced members have left the organization due to children leaving graduating.  We need a new set of parents who would be willing to help coordinate booster activities.  Won't you please consider joining this organization.
