A Message from our Principal

Dear Huntington Families—I want to take this opportunity to thank the students, staff, and you on making this a successful school year at Huntington.  This year we have seen changes in curriculum by implementing the Common Core, a sustained dedication to learning and instruction, and a continued tradition of being rated Excellent by the state of Ohio.  Over this year, we have implemented MAP assessments for all grade levels which helps to guide instruction, intervention, and enrichment.  We have tackled the Third Grade Guarantee, improved our Accelerated Reading program with thousands of books and assessments, and have seen a healthy and improved lunch menu. I am very proud of the successes and growth Huntington has made over this year.

 
If you have not heard, I have taken a position at Brunswick High School starting next year.  I can’t express how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to be the principal of Huntington.  I have grown as an educator, a principal, and as a person.  I want to thank the students, families, and the hard work of our PTO for making Huntington a great school and always doing what is best for our students, and for making me a better person.  I look forward to seeing you over the years.  I also am grateful for the hard work and dedication of Huntington’s teachers.  The endless hours spent outside of school preparing, grading and creating lessons exemplifies their dedication to do whatever it takes for the students at Huntington.  Many times, those hours are at the expense and time of their own families.  It has been an honor to work with a staff that truly cares and goes above and beyond to teach each child that walks into Huntington.

As we look forward to the upcoming school year, please note that Meet the Teacher Night is Wednesday, August 14th, from 5:30-7:00 p.m., and the first day of school is Thursday, August 15, 2013.  I look forward to hearing and seeing all of your successes over the years.  Thank you again for giving me the privilege of being your principal.Mr. Keith  Merrill
