Title I News
We have been very busy in Title I Reading this first grading period. All students have been eager to learn and are making some nice progress in their reading skills.
1stgrade classeshave been working hard on reviewing letters and their sounds. The students are also becoming stronger in blending all sounds to create words. There has been an emphasis on sorting word families of at, an, and ap and discussing how words rhyme. Sequencing skills and making predictions have also been focused on to help strengthen comprehension skills.
2ndgrade classeshave been busy as well. We have focused on decoding and blending skills with emphasis on long vowels with magic e and consonant blends. We have been really working hard on increasing our comprehension by sequencing, identifying main idea and details and answering the 5 W question words (who, what, where, when, why).
All classes continue to practice reading orally. Sometimes we choral read, echo read or read one on one. All classes continue to work on fluency and sight words.
It has been a pleasure and a joy getting to know your children so far. I anticipate a continued great year.
