DO-WOPPIN'
Devils
-
Our Jazz Choir, The Do-Woppin'
Devils, is a select group of singers in 6th, 7th and
8th grade, from both Visintainer and Edwards, chosen
by audition. The Do-Woppin' Devils [DDs] gives
students of superior ability the opportunity for
additional instruction in singing material which is
more demanding than Concert Choir. The students will
learn to sing more complicated harmonies and to
depend on themselves for pitch and intonation. The
students will learn the skills needed to perform
using microphones. This in turn will provide them
with opportunities to learn the proper handling of
sound equipment. The DDs perform at BOTH the
Visintainer and the Edwards Winter and Spring
Concerts [required] as well as other performances
around the Brunswick community [optional]. Contrary
to the name, Jazz Choir is NOT limited to Jazz
Music. Jazz Choir indicates a stationary choir using
microphones, whereas a Show Choir [Young Folk] is a
song and dance act.
