Disabilities Served by an Individual Education Plan (IEP)

In the Brunswick City School District, a student who is on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) may be served by regular education teachers, special education teachers, or a combination of both.  This is dependent upon the needs of the individual student and is conducted in accordance with mandated Special Education Standards.  A multi-factored evaluation process as defined by state and federal guidelines is the vehicle used to determine handicapping possibilities in:

* Autism
* Deaf-Blindness
* Deafness
* Emotional Disturbance
* Hearing Impairment
* Intellectual Disability
* Multiple Disabilities
* Orthopedic Impairment
* Other Health Impairment
* Specific Learning Disability
* Speech or Language Impairment
* Traumatic Brain Injury
* Visual Impairment

As a team, which includes the parent, our District strives to develop a program through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that will promote, in an individualized manner, success for all students being served.  District services may begin at age three and may continue through the age of 22.  This includes students who participate in programs within the schools and those special needs students who reside in the District but attend other public facilities.
