A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Brunswick City School District Families-
The Brunswick City School District (BCSD) serves the children and families of the highly regarded communities of Brunswick and Brunswick Hills, Ohio. Approximately 6,300 students attend 6 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school. Students are taught by a highly qualified staff of over 800 full and part time employees.
BCSD is committed to creating a nurturing environment and providing a world class education for all students. Through a relentless dedication to excellence, we work every day to prepare our students for success. Utilizing a comprehensive, cohesive, and student-centered curriculum, our instructional program prepares students to learn throughout their lives by making effective and innovative use of what they learn. BCSD provides students with the skills to be productive citizens in a global society in partnership with families and community.
This year, we continued the work we started with the Portrait of a Graduate. In the spring of 2022, members of our community, including students, parents, business leaders, community leaders, faith leaders, higher education professionals, teachers, school counselors, building principals, and central office administrators, collaborated to identify the core competencies every Brunswick City School District student should possess. The result, the Journey of a Blue Devil, identified communication, adaptability, critical thinking, empathy, and responsibility as the core competencies that will be cultivated as our students learn and grow in our district.
The work does not end here, however. We are excited to utilize the Journey as a Blue Devil as we refine our strategic plan. The development of this new strategic plan will act as a roadmap to help our schools make our Portrait of a Graduate vision come to life in our classrooms. Our strategic plan must reflect our community's hopes and aspirations for our young people. With this in mind, we invited our community to help with this process.
BCSD provides the community with a school district that has structurally sound foundations through fiscal planning, hiring and retaining quality staff, providing safe facilities, and the involvement of the community as constituents who support learning.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our schools. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments about our wonderful school district.
Sincerely,
Jason A. Niedermeyer
Superintendent
