VISION: Dedicated to EXCELLENCE. Prepared for the FUTURE.
MISSION: Brunswick City Schools seeks to ensure the success of every student through a rigorous curriculum, relevant experiences, and meaningful relationships while fostering our students' love of learning.
Welcome to the Brunswick City School District, located in Brunswick, Ohio. Our district comprises eight schools, including six elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Kidder Elementary School is also home to Brunswick Preschool serving students from 3-5 years old. With a team of more than 800 dedicated staff members, we strive to provide a nurturing environment for our diverse student body, which totals over 6,400 students. We are proud to serve the communities of Brunswick, Brunswick Hills, and parts of Hinckley. We are committed to academic excellence and preparing students for the future. Our district has over 300 classrooms, a fleet of buses for safe transportation, and a variety of extracurricular activities for students. The Brunswick City School District is a place where students can thrive and communities can come together to achieve educational success.
Brunswick and Brunswick Hills, spanning 20 square miles, are situated in Medina County and are a true representation of a vibrant and community-centric lifestyle. Brunswick, located in the northern part of Medina County, offers a unique blend of modern amenities and suburban charm. Brunswick Hills Township, adjacent to Brunswick, presents a picturesque setting with a mix of residential and rural spaces, contributing to the overall character of the region. Together, the two communities represent the warmth and neighborly spirit that define life in Medina County. Residents take pride in their shared history, local events, and the collective growth of the area, making it an inviting place to live, work, and go to school.
Our community recently collaborated to create the Journey of a Blue Devil, an initiative aimed at developing a collective vision that articulates the aspirations of every student in the Brunswick City School District. The first step in framing this new vision is the Portrait of a Graduate, which is based on three guiding questions: (1) What are our community's hopes, dreams, and aspirations for our young people? (2) What skills and mindsets do our students need to succeed in this rapidly changing and complex world? And (3) what are the implications for the design of the learning experiences, and how can we ensure equitable access to those experiences in our school systems? In the spring of 2023, BCSD began the important work of reimagining its strategic plan, inspired by the work of the Journey of a Blue Devil committee. The resulting Journey to 2028 is a product of extensive collaboration with community members, leaders, parents, staff, and the Brunswick Board of Education. This plan was crafted with dedication and focuses on Academic Achievement, Student Supports, Communication, Community Engagement, and Finances/Facilities. It serves as a blueprint for excellence, guiding future planning, resource allocation, staff development, and decision-making over the next five years.
